Its All About The Dress

Just after the middle ages weddings were often more than just a union between two people. They were  a union between two families, two businesses or even two countries. Alot of weddings were more about politics than love, especially among the the higher social classes and Nobility. Therefore Brides were expected to dress in such a manner to represent not only themselves but also their families. Brides from wealthy families often wore rich colors and exclusive fabrics. Most would dress in rich bold colours with layers or fur and silk.

The amount of material used in a Brides dress would usually indicate their social standing and a way of showing guests the extent of a families wealth.
White wedding dresses did not actually become popular until the marriage of Queen Victoria in 1840, until then brides got married in other colours. It is also often assumed that white is a symbol of virginity, yet it is actually the colour blue that represents purity.

Nowadays Brides have so much flexibility and freely choose not only the style of their dress but the colour, a dress that represents their individuality and personality. The majority of Brides asked would state that their dress is the single most important part of their wedding.

So today i have picked out a few of my favourite gowns which one do you like best?...................

Looking Ahead At 2012 Trends

Well the new year has dawned so what better time to look at what trends lie ahead for
 this coming year.

It may be no surprised to know that yet again we expect Vintage to be a major trend, Victorian style dresses with full skirts, high necklines, delicate lace and tight corsets.

There will also be more brides including just a hint of colour to their gowns.

The other hit trend of this year i think will be Vintage Hollywood Glamour

I really love these 50's style dresses

To get the look you also need to think of a suitable hairstyle, how about these below?

Sleek styles, up do's with glamourous accessories

I think vintage themes should incorporate soft romantic colours, unless you are going for a bold Hollywood glamour theme.

I really fell in love with the photos inside the jars, what a lovely way to incorporate some special, personal memories.

Flowers will be soft romantic colours with big plush blooms such as peonis, with additional touches of pearls, beads or brooches.

I love this idea for bridesmaids

Honeymoons - Out this year are all inclusive hotels, In for 2012 are destinations such as Bali, Morocco and Nepal.

So i hope that will give some your you some inspiration,
what theme are you planning for your big day?

Focus on Mori Lee

I have always loved the Mori Lee range of dresses, in fact i was determined to have one for my own wedding. Madeline Gardner is the designer behind the range and has over 17 years worth of experience designing these beautiful feminine dresses. Most of the dresses come in an array of sizes which is refreshing especially if you happen to be a more curvaceous bride. There is also a range of dresses perfect for destination weddings and a large range of bridesmaids dresses in a variety of colours and styles.
Here are just a few of my favourites

Here are some of her Julietta range for sizes 18-34
