Its All About The Dress

Just after the middle ages weddings were often more than just a union between two people. They were  a union between two families, two businesses or even two countries. Alot of weddings were more about politics than love, especially among the the higher social classes and Nobility. Therefore Brides were expected to dress in such a manner to represent not only themselves but also their families. Brides from wealthy families often wore rich colors and exclusive fabrics. Most would dress in rich bold colours with layers or fur and silk.

The amount of material used in a Brides dress would usually indicate their social standing and a way of showing guests the extent of a families wealth.
White wedding dresses did not actually become popular until the marriage of Queen Victoria in 1840, until then brides got married in other colours. It is also often assumed that white is a symbol of virginity, yet it is actually the colour blue that represents purity.

Nowadays Brides have so much flexibility and freely choose not only the style of their dress but the colour, a dress that represents their individuality and personality. The majority of Brides asked would state that their dress is the single most important part of their wedding.

So today i have picked out a few of my favourite gowns which one do you like best?...................
